I have been a Nutrition and Health Coach for 15 years and absolutely love my clients and my work! One of the things I am most proud of is the way in which my clients describe me. Compassionate, warm, inspiring, uplifting, supportive and someone they can deeply trust and share anything with, without fear of being judged. My clients and the work we do together is one of my life’s greatest joys. I am equally as grateful for them as they inspire me more than
they could ever know.
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle has been a huge focus of mine for most of my life. I knew from a young age that well-being was so much more than the foods we put into our body. Wanting to get a deeper understanding of the mind and body, I chose a degree in Psychology and Human Development from Boston College and then attained a Nutrition and Health Coach Certification from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Both inside and outside of my formal education, I studied many of the eastern practices for healthy living as well as the research on countless dietary theories. When it came to nutrition, I found it incredibly frustrating that there were so many different philosophies and conflicting approaches. Even the most respected and well known doctors who have specialized in nutrition for decades cannot agree on what we should be eating. The reason for this is quite simple, there is no one way of eating for everyone; 99% of diets fail because they are not customized to us and
our personal needs.
In working with my clients, I do not take a one size fits all approach. Rather, I closely evaluate my clients current health status and conditions, their lifestyle and most importantly, honor the guidance they get from their own body.
The first step is teaching my client’s how to tune into their body. The body is in constant communication with us and often we are moving through life so fast, we forget to take the time to check in. Developing a more frequent awareness for how we feel and what we feel will enable us to receive the messages our body is constantly sending to us. It will also allow us to better understand and effectively meet our cravings and needs.
When it comes to food, our body is speaking to us all the time letting us know if we are meeting it’s foundational needs. The reality is many people’s diets are missing the most essential components necessary for optimal functioning. Therefore, we need to refuel the system by incorporating these key elements which have been overlooked for quite some time. Next, we fine tune the diet to meet the specific needs of their body. One person’s food can be another’s poison so it is critical to develop a diet plan that takes bio-individuality into account.
As food is only one of the many aspects of healthy living, we also focus on other areas too such as exercise, stress management, sleep, relationships, career fulfillment and mental well-being. These other facets are just as integral in attaining optimal health. Therefore, we create a plan that makes small, gradual improvements in each of these areas as well.
My overall goal is to empower my clients with the knowledge and tools they need to transform their health. In working together, we develop their personal unique healthy living blueprint that enables them to reach the health and lifestyle goals they have
set out to accomplish.
